The Dreambox 500s is a satellite receiver designed to play free-to-air programming produced in an MPEG-2 or MPEG-1 video format. The receiver does have a USB port, which allows you to update the installed firmware whenever there is a newly released upgrade for the hardware. Adding a USB device to the DreamBox 500S only takes a minute or two to complete.

- USB flash drive

Power down the DreamBox 500S. The hardware must be turned off before adding a USB device.

Plug the USB hardware into the USB port of the DreamBox 500S, located on the back of the receiver.

Power on the receiver and it automatically detects the connected USB device, uploading any upgrades or firmware saved on the hardware.

Disconnect the USB flash drive from the receiver once a prompt appears on the screen, stating the upload has
finished.
