I do not use the batterdv4 battery often (Other then when I close my laptop and transport it between placed in hibernation mode). After 2 months of using the dv4 battery once or twice a week, I get at least 1 hour of battery life with normal usage (running several word programs and internet) until I am down to about 35% on the dv4 battery. At that point I plug back in. I haven't yet tried to watch a full movie on the dv4 battery but I am sure I would be able to watch a 1.5 hour movie with it.
